For the first time, the Russian Television Award in the field of entrepreneurship and socially responsible business “TEFI-Capital” will be presented at the V Yalta International Economic Forum, which will be held on April 18–20 in the Republic of Crimea. This was announced on January 16 during a press conference by the co-chairman of Business Russia and the Organizing Committee of the V YIEF Andrei Nazarov.
“In order to encourage journalists and television channels that cover the business and economic agenda we agreed with the Academy of Russian Television to hold a special competition. The first awards ceremony will be held on April 19 at the fifth forum, and will continue to be held in an annual format,” said Andrei Nazarov.
Eteri Levieva, General Director of the Academy of Russian Television Foundation, noted that the competition involves 10 different nominations in the field of entrepreneurship, socially responsible business, and also for contributions to the development of Russian television to those channels that highlight the business agenda.
In turn, Andrei Nazarov proposed introducing a special nomination for international publications: “Traditionally, about 50 foreign media participate in the forum, which we would also like to single out with a special prize. Given the specificity of the forum and the situation around the international information blockade of the Crimea, these journalists can be considered high professionals in their field, they are not afraid to collect objective facts.” In his opinion, the prize will also be of interest to regional media, which will have a positive effect on the development of journalism in all Russian media.
The finalists and winners of the competition will be determined by an expert council chaired by Vladimir Pozner – the member of the Academy of Russian Television, the author and presenter of the Posner program on Channel One. It will also include journalist Igor Vittel and Pavel Gusev editor-in-chief of Moskovsky Komsomolets, Ilya Doronov, Managing Director of RBC TV Channel, and other media industry professionals. “I agreed, because, I think, this topic is extremely important in Russia. In order for society to develop, it is necessary that people living in the country understand where the country is going and why it is going so and not otherwise. I have the hope that such a television award can contribute to this,” has commented Vladimir Pozner. The President of the Academy of Russian Television Foundation, Alexander Akopov, is confident that the award will help, among other things, improve the image and credibility of entrepreneurship in the country: “I have repeatedly stated that it’s not the people who don’t like the rich, its journalists who don’t like the rich in our country. The award is a very good reason to talk about how businessmen are represented in our information field.” “For all of us, an important mission is to support both the business community and those journalists who cover the life of entrepreneurship benevolently, constructively, help them solve certain problems, and it seems to me that the influence of television is immeasurably higher than the influence of print media ", - commented the Forbes editorial director Nikolai Uskov.
